Black-Headed Gull 2V27

Report and Information. Mark Grantham

Just for info, this bird was back at St Andrews Pool again on 7th December. I presume you've had full details already, but if not it's actually EW86127, ringed as a chick in Wiltshire in 2009.
Thanks for that Mark. You are the first that has reported it.

Ringed Necked Duck at PBP.

I hooked up with an old work mate and visited St Andrews Pool and Par.

Nothing really of interest at St A's Pool but after opening up the Hard Rock Cafe  the punters came back as I knew they would.
The usual Marsh Tits, Coal, Great and Blue Tits all made an appearance along with an overhead sightings of a Sparrowhawk and Jay.
Phil Barlow informed me of an American Vagrant Duck at PBP so that was the next stop on the agenda for Ted and myself.

PBP.

The Ringed Necked Duck(*vagrant ) was happy amongst the Tufties and was being watched by a handful of birders.
A Black Swan was also present on the Pool along with the usual residents. With the exception of a Grey Heron in the far trees nothing else was worth recording.
Moving on to the top end.
Stonechat,, Goldcrest, Chiffchaff, Goldfinch, Rock Pipit, Grey and Pied Wagtails, Turnstones, Grey Heron and  Cormorant were all recorded along with the usual Corvids and Gulls.

Black Swan.

Report and photograph Catherine Beazley

I've just returned to London from a few days in my native St.Austell.

I just saw the posts about the possible Baird’s Sandpiper and suspect
it might be the same bird I saw at Spit beach that morning.
The bird was with a flock of some 20 Turnstone and a single Ringed
plover. I was thinking Dunlin but the good people on i-spot.org.uk
felt Sanderling. This might not be the same bird of course but I
wanted to get in touch with a pic just in case!

I popped over to par pool a couple of times and was really taken by
all the waxcaps on the grass area between the pool and large car park.
I attach a few pics in case these are of interest.

I forgot to mention, if anyone is interested in seeing some tiny
fluted birds nest fungi(Cyathus striatus)- it can be found in

abundance in the woodchip borders outside the ship inn, Par. The egg
like spores have mostly gone but it still looked pretty impresive last
week! :)

Hello Catherine. Thank you for the report and photographs...I am sure they will be of interest to the readers of this site.

Report K.Cross.

Hi, sadly we have found this dear little bird dead outside our garden room window, and are having difficulty identifying it.  We have numerous species in our St Austell garden, but don't recognise this as a frequent visitor. Your help would be much appreciated.

I will throw it out to the experts. Can someone identify it please.
Chaffinch?
