The massive viaduct was built by Joseph Treffry 1842. When the line was completed it was used to "take the ore to the port at Par".
The Valley is littered throughout with 19th century industrial remains.

Valley Walk
We decided to have a change and walk the *Valley* close to St Blazey's Gate and give the Lake a rest. At first it seemed very quiet and I did not see any bird life until we reached the old mine workings where we then saw and photographed a Grey Wagtail.
Also in the workings was a Green Carpet Moth who I was unable to capture with enough clarity to put up on the Blog.
I did take pictures of a strange looking fungi growing on a tree and wonder if anyone has any idea what it is called.
Finally , Angie located a Peacock that was in a garden at the walks end and what we believe is a Nuthatch (see http://angie-alecto.blogcom/ spot.) I will leave the Nuthatch off the Patch List preferring a better view.
