Report and photograph. Nigel Climpson. 30th March 2011
This full summer plumage Mediterranean Gull put in a very brief appearance at Par Beach pool this afternoon.
Well captured Nigel. Definitely a fine specimen.

Full Summer Med OK, but only just ! Surely the black tail-markings mean it has just moulted out of 2nd-winter plumage to become a SECOND SUMMER MED.(which does attain Full.Summ.plumage)
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong, work it out yourselves !
Good point Roger, I suppose we should properly call this a 3rdcy? ( cy= calendar year)

Yes indeed, 3rd cal.year it is. A term in vogue which I hate ! Got by without it for 50yrs! Nice shot, whatever we call it, smart birds in spring and summer. Hopefully we'll get a few more moving through with the last B.H.Gulls.
