I've never seen a Purple Hairstreak, though I've been told that here is a couple in Wales, not to far.
ReplyDeletePossibly the most common butterfly in oak woodland of the south and west, yet the least often seen species ! I seldom see more than half dozen in a year. Yet in favoured locations on oak (and sometimes Ash) it is possible to see a score or more. Ask where your local 'site' is.
