Trevor, If you go down Lands End follow the cycle path. Half way down look to your right, you can't miss them. From the path a distance of 50 to 100 feet. Also Short -eared Owl and Tree Sparrow,Melodious Warbler can turn up. When you arrive at the Car Park booth tell the guy that you are Bird Watchers and you want to drive down to the bottom Car Park on his Left. He won't charge you, it's free. John.
That is great info John. I was thinking I would not have got those shots with my camera. You really need a 500mm plus lens to get those sort of shots a field craft better than mine or a docile bird that lets you creep up on it. As you know I have admired your digiscoping technique and would dearly love to emulate it, but, alas my eyesight is not good enough and by the time I get things right the bird has flown. Angie gets far more grab shots than I do with the camera..the Golden Eagle springs to mind.
Thank you Sam and Lisa. Like you we are both virgins to the Butterfly world. It really does seem to be the fashion icon of the moment. It is rather fun chasing after them like a demented banshees though.
A Market Town since 1189 and has now undergone a major regeneration program .
The new shopping and leisure centre (White River Place) opened October 2009 and employs 500 - 700 people.
Imery's modernized China Clay industry employs 2000 which is a huge drop from the early 20th Century when tin, copper and china clay found in the hills made St Austell a major Cornish industrial centre.
Another industry still alive and kicking is the St Austell Brewery which celebrated 150 years of trading in 2001.
