Butterfly and Insect at Par.

Good to see you both today. Here's a pic of a small skipper and the  grasshopper taken at Par Beach Wilderness this weekend

The grasshopper in the photo is a final stage nymph of the Lesser Marsh Grasshopper. Note the very small, rudimentary wings still developing.

Report and Photograph. Andrew Carey.

Nice photographs Andrew.

Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Today Wednesday 22nd we have had a great spotted woodpecker in our garden at Tywardreath - first time for us but sorry no picture

Report Stuart Hunkin

I remember the first time we had one in the garden...quite an occasion. Unfortunately the visits are very spasmodic and this year we have not had one.
Thank you for the report.

Photographs Andrew Thomas.

The displaying Peregrines were taken at an undisclosed site within the Baywatch boundaries.

Gribben

It's Andy Thomas from Shrewsbury again. I took a quick stroll out to the Gribben on Sunday morning. Lovely views of Gulls and Fulmars. More Gannets (12) than I have ever seen in the Bay. Is this unusual - I am used to seeing the odd 1 or 2?

Selection of photos attached.

Included a photo of the faithful Heron at Par pool. He waded most of the way across it. Quite a let down - since childhood I have always imagined the pool to be very deep in the middle!

Report and photographs. Andrew Thomas

Thank you for the report and photographs Andrew.
I hope your mother is feeling better.
The water level at the pool is really low but I suppose the Heron shattered a few childhood memories and fears.
Not much I can tell you about the Gribben Gannets but someone may be able to answer it.

The Quiet Pool

A visit to PBP Sunday evening was rather a dull affair. Roger, Angie and myself spent a couple of hours but nothing really interesting appeared.
What we did see was the usual residents...Cormorant x3, Heron x2, Swans, Canada Geese, Coots, Moorhen, Mallards, Pied Wagtails, Swallows and Corvids.
The beach and sea areas were deserted with nothing of note to report.

Earlier at Penrice I photographed the Jay. (see below)

Monday 13 June 2011

Hi Trevor, on this wet cold day, they were charging to get into Par Beach again!! Now you've got your hat back perhaps you'll find your camera and get out and about again!? I've sent you a couple of panoramas taken this afternoon, just to remind you what the old place looks like, even in grim weather!!

Photographs .A Carey.
You have been out with the new camera I see Andrew.
I like them.
I have been feeling under the weather just lately....another cold caught from Angie.
We did go out with Mark Whittaker the other evening searching for Nightjars. It proved a rewarding evening with a male and female circling us just overhead. A Cuckoo was also sighted giving me two year ticks.
Things will soon be back to normal so send in the reports.
